On 15 January, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit Warsaw for talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
This was reported by the Office of the Polish Prime Minister.
Poland, which began its six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 January 2025, plans to use this time to strengthen its position as one of the key EU countries.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has said that among its priorities is the EU's expansion to the east and south, including support for Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans. Warsaw is also seeking to use European instruments to strengthen defence infrastructure, such as the «Eastern Shield project», and to ensure that frozen Russian assets are used to rebuild the affected countries.
The meeting in Warsaw is expected to be an important step in strengthening Ukrainian-Polish relations and discussing key European initiatives.
Earlier, Poland officially stated that it was ready to support Ukraine and supply electricity in the event of a power outage from Slovakia.
