The UAE could help Ukraine with the security of its sea routes, says Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed assistance with securing Ukraine’s maritime routes with the President of the United Arab Emirates.

The President announced this in an evening video address.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy recalled that Ukrainians had «significantly supported the security of our partners» in the Persian Gulf — specifically, by helping to protect against Iranian attacks.

«We have just been discussing how the Emirates can help us in Europe and in the Black Sea region. This concerns food security and the security of maritime routes,» said the President.

It should be recalled that this summer, Russian forces intensified their attacks on ships and port infrastructure; President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russians are doing everything they can to block the «grain corridor» for Ukraine.

In particular, the Russian army attacked port infrastructure in the Mykolaiv region for the third time in two days. Two civilian vessels were also damaged in the strike on 24 July.
