Reductions may affect junior staff, — Sienkevych on the reduction in the Emergency Medical Service Hospital

Mykolaiv City Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, commenting on the future process of reforming the Emergency Medical Service Hospital, said that layoffs will affect junior staff.

He said this in a comment to «NikVesti».

The mayor emphasized that reforming the medical institution will take place exclusively according to the recommendations provided by the Ministry of Health and the National Health Union. It will be about the reduction of beds, but it does not exclude the dismissal of representatives of junior staff.

— In recent years, other hospitals have reduced beds and, in fact, the medical staff. There is a resolution. Both the minister and the head of NHSU, who came to us, gave recommendations. And the reform of this medical institution will take place exclusively from the advice or instructions given to us by these officials. Today we are talking about reducing rates and reducing the number of beds. Of course, this can affect junior medical personnel and this should be handled by the head of the enterprise, who must determine who is more efficient, who is of retirement age, etc., — Oleksandr Sienkevych said.

We will remind you that the staff of the Mykolaiv emergency medical hospital is being reduced again due to the reduction of the funding of the institution by the National Health Service of Ukraine.

The head of the health care department of the Mykolaiv City Council, Iryna Shamrai, commenting on the order to reduce the rates of doctors and nurses at the Emergency Medical Service Hospital (EMSH), said that if the doctors fall under the reduction, they will be transferred to work at other medical institutions in Mykolaiv.

After that, during the session of the Mykolaiv City Council, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych stated that the budget of Mykolaiv until the end of 2023 has funds for the payment of salaries to the employees of the emergency medical care hospital.

In turn, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council Anton Tabunshchyk said that the commission for inspection of medical facilities, which he heads, reached conclusions regarding the unsatisfactory work of some chief doctors.

The head of the surgical department No. 2 of the emergency medical hospital, Ihor Golovin, compared the two institutions and showed the difference between the number of treated patients and the salaries of doctors.

On March 31, 2023 , there was a similar reduction of doctors and nurses, however, the chief doctor Oleksandr Demianov and the deputy head of Mykolayiv RMA Yurii Hranaturov claimed that it will affect only empty vacancies.

This turned out to be untrue, after which Vitalii Kim, the head of Mykolayiv RMA, made a speech and accused his team of having «been told one thing, but it turned out the other way around». After that, Vitalii Kim stated at a session of the Mykolaiv City Council that they were tasked not only with compensating for the lost medical staff, but also with finding new doctors that Mykolaiv needed. At the same time, Yurii Hranaturov said that the head of RMA, Vitaly Kim, intends to find a state subsidy for the payment of salaries to the doctors of the emergency medical service hospital.
