Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the difficult situation in the regions following attacks on infrastructure. Screenshot from videoPresident Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after a series of Russian attacks on critical infrastructure, the situation in many regions of Ukraine remains difficult.
He wrote about this on Facebook on 11 January.
According to the head of state, over the course of seven days, Russia used nearly 1,100 strike drones, more than 890 guided aerial bombs, and more than 50 missiles of various types, including Oreshnik, against Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that these strikes make no military sense and are directed against the civilian population. He noted that Russian troops struck energy infrastructure and residential buildings, deliberately choosing the time of frosty weather to worsen people's living conditions.
The President stressed that such actions are cynical and deliberate terrorism by Russia against the peaceful population of Ukraine.
«They deliberately waited for frosty weather to make things worse for our people. This is deliberate, cynical Russian terror against the people,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
On 9 January, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced that it had used the Oreshnik missile system during a night strike on Ukraine. This was allegedly in response to a «drone attack» on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As a result, on the afternoon of 9 January, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced that Ukraine would convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council over the Oreshnik strike on Lviv Region.
