In Mykolaiv, the list of investment projects planned to be implemented by 2026 has been updated. It included new projects for the construction of a drainage system, coastal fortification, and reconstruction of the destroyed gymnasium.

The changes were approved by the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council as part of the city's economic and social development program for 2024-2026, NikVesti reports.

All investment projects involve design research and expertise.

The following objects have been included in the list of proposals of budget managers for investment projects planned to be financed in 2024-2026:

  • New construction of the drainage system in the private sector of the Raketne Urochyshche microdistrict, from 9 Voienna Street to 4 Voienna Street.
  • Reconstruction of the Mykolaiv Gymnasium №48 on 164 Generala Popelia Street in Korabelnyi district.
  • Elimination of the consequences of the flooding of the Pivnichnyi microdistrict — a new construction of a complex of drainage structures for engineering protection against flooding of the Pivnichyi microdistrict.
  • New construction of coastal fortifications in the Velyka Korenyha neighborhood from Mlynna Street to Pokrovska Street.

We will remind that in Mykolaiv they are planning to build a complex of drainage structures for engineering protection against flooding of the North district.

As you know, at the beginning of the year in Mykolaiv, part of the coastline of the Namyv microdistrict collapsed. The city council reported that they plan to attract international funds for coastal fortification works. In February 2022, it was reported that 48 million hryvnias would be needed to strengthen the coastline of the Namyv microdistrict, but there were no funds for this in the city budget.

Two years before that, in November 2020, the mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Sienkevych promised that the strengthening of the coastline would begin in 2021. Journalists showed the results of the destruction of the coastline of the Namyv microdistrict in June 2018. Then the water took away several meters of the beach, and the foundations of high-rise buildings began to sink.

In the same year, residents of Namyv began to sound the alarm that water was washing away the coastline. On this occasion, a meeting was held in Mykolayiv City Hall, where the possible implementation of the coastal fortification project, the improvement of the beach strip and the sanitary condition of the territory were discussed.

In addition, in 2016, the Department of Housing and Communal Services announced tenders for the development of the Namyv shore fortification project worth 416,000 hryvnias. For this, they planned to build an embankment. Then the company «DBK-Proekt», with which the contract was signed and which developed the coastal fortification project, won the bidding.

In October 2019, it became known that the Department of Capital Construction of Mykolaiv City Council will spend 1 million 472 thousand 340 hryvnias on the development of a project to strengthen the Namyv coastline. Later, the head of the Ukrainian Design Bureau Hryhorii Patoka explained that the need to develop the second project is related to the change of certain norms in construction.
