electricity transmission system operator in Ukraine

Ukrenergo is the national power company and the electricity transmission system operator in Ukraine. It runs the high-voltage grid, keeps the power system in balance, and power outage schedules in the regions, including Mykolaiv Oblast, are applied on its orders. As of November 2025 the company was headed by Vitalii Zaichenko. In January 2026 its former head Oleksii Brekht was killed by an electric shock while working at a substation, and he was posthumously awarded the title Hero of Ukraine. In February 2026 Ukrenergo sued Mykolaivoblenergo to recover a debt of more than ₴36.5 million, and in April prosecutors reported a scheme that embezzled ₴447 million of the company's funds.
