The amount of damages due to damaged and destroyed objects in the Shevchenkove community of the Mykolaiv region amounts to more than 2 billion hryvnias.

Such calculations of the community as of the end of October 2023 are given by Ukraïner in the article «How Mykolaiv is being restored».

It also states that the community's budget before the invasion was 150 million hryvnias, and in 2023 — about 125 million hryvnias. These funds are sufficient only for wages, utility payments, and emergency repairs.

However, the community managed to attract about 100 million hryvnias of additional income, with which it is rebuilding little by little and was able to purchase utility equipment, because part of it was lost during hostilities. Denmark, Germany, and the Czech Republic helped in this.

The Shevchenkove community during the war

The Shevchenkove community was occupied by the Russians at the beginning of the full-scale invasion and was liberated on November 10, 2022. After that, the local residents shared their experiences during the occupation by the Russian troops. In particular, a resident of the destroyed village of Ternovi Pody said that the Russians turned his house into an «observation point», and when they fled they even stole nails.

NikVesti visited the villages of the Shevchenkove community and showed what Novohryhorivka looks like after 8 months of Russian shelling and the village of Luch after 24-hour Russian shelling. At the same time, law enforcement agencies began work in the de-occupied community. Investigators collected evidence of war crimes committed by the Russian military in the territory of the village of Zelenyi Hai and Ternovi Pody.

The plans of the Shevchenkove community include the construction of 50 houses with sandwich panels, as in Norway, and the construction of new high-rise buildings in the village of Luch. This is stated in the article of NikVesti «Modern European towns and logistics hub: what awaits the villages of the Mykolaiv Oblast destroyed by the Russians».

At the same time, the only modern modular houses on the territory of the Mykolaiv region were installed in the Shevchenkove community. They are equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay of a person: toilet, kitchen, bathroom and furniture. The cost of one is 12.5 thousand dollars, they were financed by partners from Belgium.

The community is also considering the possibility of building a plant for the processing of construction waste from destroyed objects and their reuse for reconstruction, as well as disposal of hazardous demolition waste containing asbestos.
