«As for the fires of dry land, it should be noted here that almost all of them arose due to careless handling of fire by the population, as well as as a result of deliberate arson. They arose both within the residential sector — in the territories of private households and in open areas. A total of 23 fires were registered, the area of the fires was more than 30 hectares,» the State Emergency Service noted.

In general, more than 100 firefighters and 27 special vehicles were involved from the State Emergency Service to eliminate fires in natural ecosystems. Local fire brigades, farmers and businessmen who provided equipment for water delivery and the local population also helped in extinguishing the fire.

Mykolayiv emergency workers emphasize that, compared to last year, the number of fires in the natural ecosystems of the Mykolayiv region has doubled. According to firefighters, the number of fires has increased by 103%, this is 427 fires as opposed to 210 fires in 2023.
