The contractor has already rebuilt almost half of the destroyed Lyceum №2 building in the center of Mykolaiv

As of November 2024, the contracting company Zhytloprombud-8 completed 48% of the work on the reconstruction of the destroyed building of Mykolaiv Lyceum №2.

This is evidenced by the report on the use of allocated funds from the Fund for the Liquidation of the Consequences of Armed Aggression for the implementation of ten projects in the Mykolaiv region, which is at the disposal of NikVesti.

According to the document, the contractor performed dismantling works, partly general construction and interior finishing works, laid engineering networks.

So far, out of 149.5 million hryvnias allocated from the state budget, 27.6 million hryvnias have been spent.

At the same time, the remaining unused funds as of December 31, 2024, which were allocated this year from the state budget for the implementation of projects in the Mykolayiv region, will be returned to the state budget.

Restoration of gymnasium №2

The issue of restoring the building of Gymnasium №2 was raised even before the full-scale invasion. In March 2021, the premises of the gymnasium building were recognized as emergency. At the time, a petition was created on the website of the city council to preserve the gymnasium in a viable condition, which was supported by more than a thousand citizens. Two days later, the head of the Mykolaiv regional state administration, Vitalii Kim, said that the regional government is ready to cooperate with the city government regarding the restoration of gymnasium №2.

In May 2021, the head of the capital construction department of Mykolaiv City Council Oleksandr Pozdniakov reported that two companies responded to a commercial proposal to investigate the state of emergency of the gymnasium. It turned out that only part of the roof is emergency, and there is no threat to the educational process. Then the library and museum were «moved out» from the wing of the gymnasium.

Later, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, announced that they plan to carry out current repairs in gymnasium №2 by the end of 2021, and capital works will be postponed for the time being.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the gymnasium has survived four enemy attacks. The first occurred in April 2022. The building was damaged due to the use of cluster weapons.

Therefore, the restoration of the institution was included in the four objects of the Mykolaiv region, for the restoration of which in 2024 the government allocated 1.2 billion hryvnias. From these funds, 149.5 million hryvnias were allocated from the state budget for the reconstruction of gymnasium №2.

In July 2023, the Department of Town Planning and Architecture of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration ordered a project, and later a tender for the restoration of the building, which was won by the company Zhytloprombud-8 with an offer of 145.5 million hryvnias. The contractor was to complete the work by December 31, 2024, including arranging the shelter and rebuilding the building after the shelling. However, he did not have time to complete these works and they were postponed to 2025.
