In Ukraine, 23% of the territory, or 139,000 square kilometres, remains mined. This year, three billion hryvnias will be spent on mine clearance.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, farmers have already been paid more than 529 million hryvnias in compensation for the services of private demining operators.
«The work under this programme continues and almost 360 applications from farmers have already been received. 3 billion hryvnias has been allocated in the state budget for the current year. The Government's strategic goal is to clear Ukraine of mine debris as soon as possible,» he said.
It is noted that 84 certified operators are working on demining. The process involves 225 demining machines, some of which were manufactured in Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine needs $29.8 billion to demine the territories, which is $4.8 billion less than previously estimated.
