The Defence Forces will soon be able to shoot down Russian drones using laser weapons.
This was announced by Vadym Sukharevskyi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in an interview with the PRESSING project.
According to the colonel, Ukrainians were able to develop their own laser weapons in a few months. Tests are currently underway: such weapons burn metal and shoot down targets.
«I am supporting this project so that with the help of technological solutions we can effectively shoot down enemy reconnaissance Shahed drones, ensure the defence of strategic facilities and places of residence of our population,» said Vadym Sukharevskyi.
The USF commander is confident that the laser will soon be able to shoot down air targets on a par with mobile fire groups using machine guns.
As a reminder, units of the UAF Unmanned Systems Forces, along with other components of the Defence Forces, struck at the «Prymorsko-Akhtarskyi» airfield in the Krasnodar Territory of Russia on the night of 6 February.
