Residents of Mykolaiv and the region have had light for only up to 8 hours a day for the past few days.
Consumers were cut off even in the «yellow» hours of queues, writes NikVesti.
Now it is almost impossible to hear silence in the center of Mykolaiv. The lack of electricity is compensated by the operation of generators, which are installed near every shop and institution on Soborna.
Alina, a barista at a local coffee shop, says that the volume of work without light is reduced to a minimum. The only saving grace is the generator. However, it is only one in two locations in the coffee shop, so it has to be moved from place to place .
«We have a generator, but it is one for two locations. We're open here until 11:00 p.m., so we bring it here. There are a lot of people here, but even that coffee shop should have a generator. We carry it here and there with our own hands. We are losing a lot now. Without a generator, we can only give lemonade to working people. In general, we always have a normal cash register until 12:00, but now there is no light, the cash register is appropriate... People want coffee in the morning, but how do you prepare it? We are holding on, collecting money for a second generator, because we don't want to go into the red. We have to work,» says the girl.
In addition to physical discomfort, the lack of light is also felt in a moral sense. There are only two hours of light in the shops during the whole day.
«It affects the psychological factor, and it already affects our work. You are worried, you have a headache, you don't feel well,» said the employees of the local store.
At the same time, there were no fewer customers. People enter shops, illuminating themselves with lanterns. The only thing is that in most stores it is almost impossible to pay cashless without electricity.
