On Wednesday, September 18, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law №11417, which provides for an increase in the budget by 500 billion hryvnias to finance military needs.
People's deputy of Ukraine Yaroslav Zhelezniak reported this.
He wrote that 298 deputies voted for the decision. Thus, the total expenditures of the state budget for 2024 have now reached a record amount of 3.73 trillion hryvnias.
In August, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the state budget lacks more than 500 billion hryvnias for defense needs. At the same time, he announced that the government hopes to close the deficit of 500 billion hryvnias thanks to the over-implementation of the plan for taxes and payments this year, savings on foreign debt servicing and borrowing on the domestic market.
