In Mykolaiv, 12 of the planned 45 ramps were installed in 2025.
This was announced during an open staff meeting today, 12 January, according to NikVesti.
According to Deputy Mayor Yurii Andrienko, last year, the city budget planned to install 15 ramps, but only 12 were completed.
«We planned to install 15 ramps by the end of the year, but we only managed to install 12, and three were carried over to this year. First, we will complete these three, and then we will consider the list in order of priority,» explained Yurii Andriienko.
First Deputy Mayor Vitalii Lukov clarified that 45 ramps were planned to be installed, provided that additional grant funds were attracted.
«Since the grantor did not support the project, we decided to install 15 ramps at our own expense, and the rest — if additional funding is received. Therefore, we continue to look for opportunities. So far, unfortunately, there are no such targeted programmes. More precisely, we have not found any,» added First Deputy Mayor Vitalii Lukov.
In turn, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych instructed the municipal institution Mykolaiv Development Agency to prepare a project and send it to other partners.
«We need to prepare a project and send it to other partners. If the Swiss have refused, then please send it through the Mykolaiv Development Agency,» added Oleksandr Sienkevych.
Shelters in Mykolaiv kindergartens and vocational schools are inaccessible to people with reduced mobility: what is known
Recently, shelters in kindergartens and vocational schools in Mykolaiv were inspected and a problem was identified: people with disabilities and residents with limited mobility cannot independently access the shelters.
The inspections were carried out in shelters located in kindergartens №2 and №49 and vocational school №21. According to experts, the shelters are in good working order and well maintained, equipped in accordance with requirements and can be used safely during air raid alerts or other emergencies.
However, during the inspection, a problem typical for many shelters was identified. In particular, the lack of conditions for unhindered access for people with reduced mobility. There are no ramps, lifts or other solutions at the entrances that would allow people with disabilities, elderly people or parents with prams to quickly and safely reach the shelter in case of danger.
It should be noted that back in August 2024, the Mykolaiv City Council approved the target programme Mykolaiv without Barriers for 2024-2026.
The programme aims to establish a comprehensive system for the rehabilitation and integration of persons with disabilities and to strengthen social protection for persons with disabilities and other groups with limited mobility. In addition, it aims to create a barrier-free environment in Mykolaiv for all population groups, ensuring equal opportunities to receive services on a par with others in conditions of martial law.
