Organizations in the United States that provide access to abortion pills or information about medical abortion have recorded a high demand for such drugs after the election victory of Donald Trump.

The Washington Post writes about it.

Aid Access, one of the largest providers of abortion pills, reported 10,000 requests for the drug within 24 hours of Election Day. This is 17 times more than on a normal day.

The nonprofit Just the Pill also reported that between Nov. 6 and Nov. 8, 22 out of 125 orders for the abortion pill came from women who were not pregnant but simply wanted a supply, which had previously been rare.

Plan C, an information platform that provides data on access to abortion drugs, had more than 82,000 visitors to its site on Election Day, compared to about 4,000 to 4,500 visitors per day before.

National Abortion Federation President Brittany Fontenot said people are aware of the potential risks to abortion access under the new administration.

It was previously reported that in the fall of 2021, the US Supreme Court will consider a lawsuit against the law of the state of Mississippi, which significantly limited abortions after the 15th week of pregnancy. The court's decision, with a majority of conservative judges, could lead to restrictions on women's abortion rights.

In 2022, the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which protected a pregnant woman's right to choose whether or not to have an abortion. Now every US state is trying to amend this law. Donald Trump has said he does not support abortion law at the federal level. According to him, it should be decided by each state separately.
