This is three times more than in the previous three months and four times more than in the fall of 2023.
This is evidenced by the calculations of The Wall Street Journal.
Russia is said to be using an unprecedented number of Iranian-developed Shahed drones, as well as more ballistic missiles that are harder to intercept. In addition, WSJ journalists note that one of Moscow's new tactics is the use of cheap decoy drones to wear down Ukrainian air defenses. Up to half of the drones currently launched may be unarmed decoys.
Probably, the plant in Tatarstan allowed Russia to launch such a large number of drones over Ukraine. According to WSJ sources, Russia can produce 1,200 analogues of Iranian Shahed per month.
At the same time, Ukraine is trying to resist attacks and is more actively using electronic warfare methods for this. Specifically, in October, 93% of all drones were intercepted or lost, compared to just over 8% for ballistic and hypersonic missiles. And already in November, the percentage of interception of ballistic and hypersonic missiles increased sharply - to more than 40%.
The WSJ believes that such a rate of interception of enemy drones in Ukraine is also influenced by the lower quality of Russian Shahed analogues than the original drones.
We will remind that the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that Russia has spent 200 billion dollars since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
According to him, Russia's losses in the first year of the full-scale war in Ukraine became unprecedented, exceeding the total costs of all conflicts since World War II.
