«Something exploded right in the middle of the yard»: Mykolaiv residents about the night drone attack

On the evening of 5 April, the Russian army attacked Mykolaiv with drones, damaging more than 30 buildings.

Correspondents of NikVesti visited the scene and spoke to residents of the destroyed buildings.

One of the women said that when they heard the door shake, they didn't even have time to react, and the explosion happened almost immediately.

«My mother came running to us because the door suddenly shook. We didn't have time to do anything — and literally in a second, something exploded right in the middle of the yard. Everything happened instantly. We have a basement, but we didn't even have time to run there,» says Marina, the owner of the damaged house.

Another local resident said that after the first explosion, she did not have time to understand what had happened when another explosion occurred, and they were covered by a blast wave.

«We heard the first explosion, didn't even have time to move, when the second one happened right away — and we were covered by the blast wave. A gas pipe exploded right next to the house. Rescuers came and put everything out. Now they are helping us to cover the roof and board up the windows. After the second explosion, we hid in the bathroom. The stress is insane. You live a normal life, you don't even think that something like this can happen. And then — everything around you is on fire, collapsing. Only one window of the whole house survived,» says Svitlana, another resident of the damaged house.
