Ukraine spent 57% of the state budget on security and defense in six months

For the period January-June 2024, the expenses of the general fund of the state budget for the security and defense sector amounted to 888.4 billion hryvnias, which is 57.5% of the total amount of expenses of the general fund of the state budget.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance.

As reported, the funds were directed to:

  • cash support for military personnel, rank and file officers, police officers;
  • purchase of military/special equipment, weapons, ammunition, defense products, personal protective equipment (helmets, body armor and other special equipment), fuel and lubricants, food products;
  • medical care;
  • other costs to ensure the activities of relevant bodies and formations.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Finance, in June 155.6 billion hryvnias were spent on the security and defense sector from the state budget.

As a reminder, in June 2024, the Ministry of Finance transferred interbudgetary transfers to local budgets in the amount of 27.2 billion hryvnias, which is 90.3% of the planned allocations (budget authority).
