The 78th British Academy of Television and Film Awards (BAFTA) took place in London on Sunday, 16 February. The winner in the category «Best British Short Film» was the film «Rock, Paper, Scissors».

This was reported on the British Oscar website.

The film, directed by 26-year-old Franz Böhm, is based on real events and is dedicated to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The 20-minute film tells the story of a young man, Ivan, who lives in eastern Ukraine. His father is a surgeon who operates on wounded soldiers and civilians in a hospital on the front line. In the story, the protagonist tries to protect the patients from the Russian invaders.

The main role in the film went to Oleksandr Rudynskyi from Mykolaiv. When he received the award together with the film crew, the actor stressed that he was dedicating this victory to his comrade who died in the war against Russia.

«I want to dedicate these words to my friend Zhenia Svitlychnyi, who died when the war started, as well as to all others who are defending my country and doing everything to ensure that it remains independent,» said Oleksandr Rudynskyi.

Oleksandr Rudynskyi is a Ukrainian theatre and film actor. He was born in Mykolaiv and moved to Kyiv after graduating from high school, where he entered the Ivan Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television.

In July, Netflix released a new historical project — the series «Decameron», based on the short stories of the famous Italian Renaissance writer Giovanni Boccaccio. In the series, viewers also saw Ukrainian actor Oleksandr Rudynskyi portraying a one-eyed bandit.
