More than 140 rescue posts will be deployed on Epiphany in Ukraine to ensure the safety of people on the water.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

About 500 rescuers and more than 100 vehicles will be on duty.

«More than 140 rescue posts with water rescue equipment will be deployed across Ukraine at the places where Epiphany is celebrated. Almost 500 rescuers and more than 100 pieces of equipment will be on duty. We recommend that you refrain from participating in mass events and adhere to the restrictions in force during martial law», the statement said.

Rescuers call for safety while swimming on Epiphany

The Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region has published safety rules for swimming on the Epiphany holiday, including the following recommendations:

  • Harden the body in advance;
  • Swim only in specially designated places where rescuers and doctors are supervising;
  • Warm up your body before swimming;
  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages before immersing yourself in water;
  • To avoid hypothermia, stay in the water for no more than a minute;
  • Do not dive into the water abruptly;
  • After swimming, dry yourself with a towel and put on dry clothes;
  • Do not allow young children to swim alone and do not leave them unattended;
  • Drink hot tea after bathing.
