Russian shelling of Odesa region on 23 February caused over ₴36 million in environmental damage

On 23 February this year, Russian shelling damaged private households in Odesa district. According to preliminary estimates, the amount of environmental damage exceeds 36 million hryvnias.
According to the State Environmental Inspectorate, experts examined the hit sites and recorded large-scale contamination of land with construction waste over an area of more than a thousand square metres.
The collected data was transferred to the Operational Headquarters of the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine to be included in the unified register of environmental damage caused by the war.
As a reminder, on the outskirts of Odesa on the night of 24 February, the wreckage of a Russian drone damaged the port infrastructure and a private house.
As reported, as a result of the Russian attack in Odesa on 7 March, civilian and energy infrastructure in the Peresypskyi district of the city was damaged. Experts estimated the environmental damage at 482,000 hryvnias.
