The inventory of green spaces in Mykolaiv is estimated at about 15 million hryvnias, but these funds are not in the city budget.

Dmytro Chuchmai, director of the utility company Mykolaiv Parks, reported this in a comment to NikVesti.

Currently, the inventory of green spaces in the city is carried out by two employees of the utility company: they independently go to squares and parks, where they keep records of trees and bushes.

«It is possible to do it, but it costs a lot of money — about 15 million hryvnias. That's why we went a different way. We have two specialists in our staff list — street and road network inventors. These specialists, according to their calendar plan agreed with me as the manager, conduct this inventory. What does this mean? They go to some object, for example, a park, and carry out such an inventory. They understand: there are so many trees, so many bushes. Trees are (measured, — approx.) in units, and bushes — in linear meters. They determine what and when they were planted, what kind of coverage of the park or square. This is such a passport of the object, where all this is written. We understand that this is a long time,» said Dmytro Chuchmai.

He also added that this number of employees is not enough to carry out the inventory efficiently and quickly.

«Two people is not enough, yes. Contractors (to perform these works, — note) it is expensive, it takes a long time to do it yourself. That's why we, you know, balance: somewhere we involve specialists. This work is being carried out, but not as quickly as we would like,» added Dmytro Chuchmai.

In general, the director of Mykolaiv Parks noted, under the condition of financing, it takes five years to inventory green spaces.

«Funds are needed. Well, approximately, I understand, we need it for five years,» he added.

It is worth noting that the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks» plans to take a loan of up to 43 million hryvnias for the renewal of special equipment that will be used for winter and summer cleaning of the city. And in general, the value of the company's fleet is estimated at 35 million hryvnias.

At the same time, the financing of the Mykolaiv Parks utility company has grown significantly over the past five years, from 8.6 million hryvnias in 2020 to 167.2 million hryvnias in 2023. This year's budget of the enterprise is 144 million hryvnias, which is slightly less than in the previous year.

Pruning trees in Mykolaiv

At the beginning of February, ecologists asked the city authorities to develop a program of rules for the care of green spaces in Mykolaiv. It should be noted that currently the concept of the development of green zones has not been developed in Mykolaiv, and the inventory of plantations was last conducted in 2018.

As you know, various promotions are currently being announced for planting trees in Mykolaiv. For example, young pines were planted in Victory Park in October 2023, and lindens were planted along Tsentralnyi Avenue in December.

Before that, in March 2022, the mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych announced that poplars would be cut down in Mykolaiv to build dugouts and heat people at roadblocks. Later, the director of the housing and communal services department of the city council, Dmytro Bezdolnyi, clarified that the felled poplars were used not only for fortifications, but also for heating social institutions and hospitals.

Already in May 2023, the municipal enterprise Mykolaiv Parks ordered for 5 million hryvnias services for tree removal, sanitary and rejuvenating pruning of trees, uprooting of stumps and planting of trees on the territory of the city. It was about planting 50 young maple trees. Then the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, asked the townspeople whether it is worth buying seedlings of trees and bushes.
