Serhii, a serviceman of the 41st separate mechanized brigade with the call sign «Rik», told how he was able to save himself after being blown up by an enemy mine.

It was the excellent knowledge of tactical medicine that saved the soldier, the brigade's Facebook page reports.

The event occurred when the soldiers of 41 separate mechanized brigades were performing tasks and providing communications to units. Suddenly, a fighter with the call sign «Rick» blew up on a camouflaged enemy mine. The explosion ripped off the man's right leg up to the knee.

The Russians began shelling this place. But the fighter, despite the terrible pain, applied a tourniquet and tightly bandaged the wound, stopping the bleeding. Then he hid in a large, deep rivulet and decided to reach our boys at any cost.

«Serhii passed by, tried to limp on all fours and at full height, leaning on branches. He fell from pain and fatigue and had to crawl again. The fighter really wanted to drink, but there was no reservoir there,» the message reads.

In general, «Rik» covered several hours about a kilometer in an unfamiliar place. The operator was eventually able to reach his brothers, where he was picked up by an ambulance. Doctors noted the professionalism of the soldier, who skillfully helped himself and avoided serious consequences from the injury.

Currently, «Rik» is preparing for prosthetics. He is also grateful to the tactical medicine instructors who taught him how to behave in similar situations.

The fighter also urges military and civilians not to neglect tactical medicine classes, which could one day save lives on the battlefield.

It was previously reported that servicemen of 41 separate mechanized brigades are looking for scouts and invite them to join the team.

We will remind that in May of this year, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi presented the pectoral «Cross of the Brave» to Oleksandr Rakovskyi, a combat medic from the Mykolaiv region. Junior sergeant Oleksandr Rakovskyi serves in the mortar battery of the 22nd separate mechanized brigade. The man comes from the village of Pryvilne, Bashtanka district. He has been participating in hostilities since January 2023.
