For the first time in the world, the servicemen of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine destroyed an enemy combat aircraft with a strike from a Magura maritime drone.

This was reported on Saturday, 3 May, by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine's press service.

On 2 May, a special unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine and the Defence Forces of Ukraine destroyed a Russian Su-30 in the Black Sea — the world's first destruction of a combat aircraft by a maritime drone.

The historic strike was carried out by the DIU Group 13 special forces using a missile from the Magura unmanned maritime platform.

«The multi-purpose fighter jet of the aggressor state of Russia, whose estimated cost is about $50 million, burst into flames in the air and eventually fell into the sea — to the bottom of the ruthless «Neptune's», the DIU said.

The successful strike on the enemy warplane took place in the waters near the port in the city of Novorossiisk, where the Russians hide the remains of their Black Sea Fleet.

As a reminder, in 2024, Ukrainian air defences destroyed more than 1,300 Russian missiles of various types, 40 aircraft and 6 helicopters.
