829 internally displaced persons have arrived in Mykolaiv since the beginning of the year

In May, 208 residents died in Mykolaiv. These figures were announced during a staff meeting at the Mykolaiv mayor’s office on Monday, 15 June, according to NikVesti.

In total, 863 children have been born in Mykolaiv since the start of the year, of whom 455 are boys and 408 are girls, according to Iryna Shamrai, head of the city’s health department. She stated that 38 children were born during the month, of whom 18 were boys and 20 were girls. However, the department’s official page clarified that these figures relate to the week from 5 to 12 June.

Vladyslav Belan, Director of the Department of Administrative Services, in turn reported that in May, 773 people registered in Mykolaiv, whilst 1,159 were removed from the register (including 208 deaths). In total, 3,361 people have registered since the start of the year, whilst 5,593 have been removed from the register (including 2,018 deaths).

Serhii Vasylenko, Director of the Department of Social Protection, added that in May, 908 internally displaced persons registered in Mykolaiv, whilst 603 were removed from the register. In total, the number of displaced persons in Mykolaiv has increased by 829 since the start of the year.

It was previously reported that the mayor of Mykolaiv had called on municipal services to employ displaced persons and veterans.

It is worth noting that there are plans to build municipal housing for displaced persons and veterans in Mykolaiv.

In February, it was reported that around 120,000 internally displaced persons currently live in the Mykolaiv region, including 50,000 people of retirement age and approximately 20,000 children.

There are two shelters for internally displaced persons operating in Mykolaiv, where people are provided with accommodation, as well as legal advice and psychological support.
