At the NATO summit, the allies agreed on a new aid package for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. The NATO Secretary General emphasized stable support and defense against future attacks.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a press conference, Ukrinform reports.

“Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, allies have provided unprecedented support to Ukraine, including tens of billions of euros in military aid. Ukraine had a difficult winter and spring. Pauses and delays in military aid had severe consequences on the battlefield. The Ukrainians demonstrated outstanding courage and resilience while holding the line. But we cannot and will not allow such a difficult situation to happen again. At this summit, we changed the direction and laid the foundation for Ukraine to win,» the NATO Secretary General emphasized.

He added that since the Russian Federation is shelling and bombing Ukraine from its territories, «the only way to hit military targets, missile launchers or airfields that carry out attacks against Ukraine is to hit military targets on Russian territory.»

«Allies also agreed on the main financial obligations for Ukraine, the minimum level of which is set at 40 billion euros during the next year. This will make our aid to Ukraine more stable so that it can win. We will review this level of support at the next summit to make sure that our support continues to meet Ukraine's needs,» said Jens Stoltenberg.

He noted that the Europeans slightly exceeded the average level of US aid to Ukraine, which is evidence of the sharing of the burden among allies in providing military support. According to him, such joint efforts and reliable and stable assistance that Ukraine will receive should provide it with the capabilities to defend against Russian aggression now and to deter and defend against new attacks in the future.

In addition, as the head of the Alliance recalled, during the summit, the allies made new announcements on the provision of immediate military assistance to Ukraine, including critical air defense equipment. More than twenty allies have concluded bilateral security agreements with Ukraine. The Alliance is taking concrete steps to deepen Ukraine's interoperability with NATO forces, to develop Ukraine's defense industry, and to cooperate in the implementation of innovations.

The Secretary General of the Alliance noted that today «we also sent a powerful signal of unity and determination to Moscow — that violence and intimidation will not bring results."

«Ukraine can count on NATO now and for a long time,» he added.

We will remind, in addition to this, the Alliance undertook long-term assistance to the Armed Forces, not just support in 2025, in order to «ensure a stable level of security assistance to Ukraine, taking into account Ukraine's needs, national budget procedures and bilateral security agreements that members An alliance was concluded with Ukraine.»

It was previously reported that on June 13, NATO member states approved the «operational plan for strengthening support to Ukraine", which includes increasing NATO's participation in the supply of weapons and training of the Ukrainian military.
