Six men were blown up by Russian ammunition in the Mykolaiv region. Three were killed and three others were injured.

As reported by the National Police in the Mykolaiv region, this happened in the Mykolaiv district on November 19, during work on cleaning an irrigation channel near the village of Myrne.

According to law enforcement officers, two men died on the spot, and three injured were hospitalized. Later, one of the men died in hospital.

In addition, on the same day, a resident of the village of Bohorodytske received severe hand injuries while disassembling explosives, which he found in the field a few months ago while grazing cows. Now he is in the hospital, his condition is assessed by doctors as serious.

It is noted that explosives technicians conducted a survey of the territories and removed the remains of detonated ammunition.

The police called on citizens living in the de-occupied territories to be extremely careful when traveling on field roads and not to approach the former locations of Russian positions.

«If you notice a suspicious object, immediately call 102 or 101. In no case do not touch dangerous finds or approach them, because they can detonate at any moment,» the police emphasized.

How is the demining of the Mykolaiv Oblast going on?

Ukraine recently updated the country's priority demining plan. According to it, more than 512,000 hectares of agricultural land are subject to priority demining, of which 44,000 hectares are in Mykolaiv Oblast.

As of December 2023, 30% of the territory of the Mykolaiv region has been mined. In total, it is 754 thousand hectares of land.

At the same time, they are working on demining in the region. For example, as of October 2023, 13 thousand 40 hectares, including 9 thousand 25 hectares of agricultural land, have been demined in the Mykolayiv region.

About 30,000-35,000 hectares of land remain mined in the Bashtanka district of the Mykolaiv region, part of which was under occupation. And in the village of Maksymivka of Pervomaisk community of Mykolaiv region, locals live with an unexploded shell under the foundation of the house.

In general, the demining situation in Maksymivka is currently critical. A year after liberation from the Russian occupiers, the village was demined by only 40%.
