Since the beginning of 2025, 33 children have been adopted in the Mykolaiv region.

This was reported by Iryna Ponomariova, head of the Children's Service of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, according to NikVesti.

In addition to adoption, 227 children were placed under guardianship, and 88 were placed in foster families and family-type children's homes. This year, 25 children were transferred from boarding schools and other institutions to family-based care. Also, 8 new family-type children's homes were created.

«Since the beginning of the year, 33 children have been adopted. This is the priority form of child placement, as adoption gives a child the rights of a biological child. [...] The development of the network of family-type children's homes and foster families is under the control of the Service for Children, because we have the opportunity to organise such a family form of upbringing, including large family groups of children,» added Iryna Ponomariova.

As a reminder, in Mykolaiv, the mother of three young children may be deprived of parental rights because she raised them in dangerous conditions and systematically left them unattended.

According to Yuliia Kravchenko, Head of the Children's Service of Mykolaiv City Council, the mother regularly left her children unattended. During the latest incident, the children were left alone in the apartment, without food and proper conditions, while the woman, according to the children, «went to get pills».
