Poland's Armed Forces Command said it did not make the decision to shoot down a Russian missile that violated the country's airspace on the morning of March 24 because it knew the missile would not fly deep into their country.

This is stated in the statement of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Poland.

The spokesman of the Operational Command, Jacek Horyshevsky, noted that the decision that the missile would not be shot down was made by the commander of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces.

«The decision was based on information from our radar systems. The assessment of the trajectory, speed and altitude of the missile indicated that it will leave our airspace,» said Jacek Horyshevskyi.

According to him, an attempt to shoot down the rocket would pose a greater risk to local residents.

«The rocket weighs more than two tons, of which 400 kilograms is the combat load. After the missile is shot down, its fragments will fall on our territory. The remains of the effector, which was used to shoot down the missile itself, will also fall here,» he said.

In addition, according to the spokesman of the command, this missile stayed in the space of Poland for too short a time and was not in the range of ground combat weapons. Therefore, there was no question of a beating.

We will remind, on the morning of March 24, a Russian missile flew into the territory of Poland during an attack on Ukraine. On the night of March 24, the Air Defense Forces of Ukraine managed to destroy 18 missiles and 25 UAVs Shahed launched by the Russians.
