Latvia and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding on cyber security, which will create a legal framework for cooperation and ensure the use of technical and human resources in this area. In addition, in 2025, Latvia will allocate 20 million euros for the international drone coalition.
Delfi writes about this with reference to the Latvian Ministry of Defense.
The memorandum will facilitate the exchange of information between Latvia and Ukraine on various cyber threats, as well as the creation of two-way communication channels for the purpose of improving the notification of cyber incidents and sharing experiences and positive examples.
In addition, the memorandum of understanding provides for cooperation in the field of education, study, development and innovation, the organization of joint public events, as well as the implementation of other actions on mutual agreement.
The memorandum was signed in Kyiv by the Minister of Defense of Latvia Andris Spruds (Progressivni) and the head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine Yurii Myrorenko.
Spruds emphasized that the cooperation between Latvia and Ukraine in the field of cyber security is particularly important, because the knowledge provided by Ukraine about the experience gained during the war will allow Latvia to implement more thoughtful solutions to strengthen resilience and increase readiness both in peacetime and in crisis situations.
