Russia was preparing a major offensive operation, but Ukraine launched a counter-offensive to prevent it from taking place.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with CNN.
According to him, Russian troops had planned to launch a large-scale offensive at the end of last year and continue it this spring. In response, Ukrainian forces launched a counter-offensive to thwart these plans.
The President noted that this outcome is significant not only in terms of territory, but also because it saved the lives of Ukrainian soldiers and prevented a large-scale attack.
He also emphasised that Ukrainian drone technology played a significant role in this.
«All of this was made possible to a large extent thanks to our drone technology. Russia has begun losing 30–35 thousand troops every month due to drones — FPV and other types of drones,» the president noted.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the trilateral talks with Russia and the US, which were planned to take place in Turkey, have been postponed until next week at the initiative of the American side.
