Mykolaiv fencer Olha Kharlan was included in the list of candidates for the international women's award «WOMEN OF IMPACT» in the «Sports Achievements» category.
This was reported by the ELLE publishing network, which is the founder of the award, writes NikVesti.
For the championship in the sports category, the fencer competes with Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina and track and field athlete Maryna Beh-Romanchuk.

The organizers of the contest will announce the last «special» nomination during the award ceremony.
People can vote for Ukrainian women on the page of the WOMEN OF IMPACT award.
«You can cast one vote from each account in social networks or from one mailbox. You can vote for only one nominee in each of the 6 categories. Voting lasts until March 1 of this year. Only adult citizens of Ukraine and adults who have a permanent place of residence on the territory of Ukraine on legal grounds have the right to participate in the vote,» the organizers said.
Recently, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine awarded the Mykolaiv saber player Olha Kharlan as the winner of the «Women and Sports» competition in the «Beauty and Glory» category.

As you know, Mykolaiv fencer Olha Kharlan defeated Russian Anna Smirnova at the start of the World Fencing Championship in Milan (Italy). After the competition, the representative of Ukraine refused to shake the hand of the Russian woman, who, in her turn, filed a protest due to the lack of «show of respect» on the part of the Ukrainian woman. For this, the International Fencing Federation (FIE) disqualified Harlan from the World Championship. After the incident, the athlete recorded a video message in which she thanked Ukrainians for their support.
However, on July 28, the International Olympic Committee granted Olha Harlan automatic qualification for the 2024 Olympics. The IOC supports her and allocates a quota for the Olympics due to the fact that she did not have the opportunity to win it at the World Championships, and later the World Fencing Federation suspended her disqualification.
