Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets confirmed the poor treatment conditions of military personnel in Odesa Regional Psychiatric Hospital №2.
This was announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Telegram channel.
Dmytro Lubinets said that after what he saw, the representatives of the Commissioner in the region, headed by Mariia Popova, visited the medical facility to check the adequacy of the conditions of the military's stay for treatment.
«According to the results of the visit, unfortunately, the information was confirmed. The conditions in which the patients, including military personnel, are kept are absolutely unsatisfactory and do not meet the established standards,» Dmytro Lubinets wrote.
It also turned out that the institution is in the final stages of reorganization and is joining the Odesa Regional Mental Health Center.
Lubinets emphasized that, in view of the detected violations of patients' rights, letters were urgently sent with recommendations to state authorities regarding measures to eliminate them.
In addition, on the basis of the information received from RMA and the Department of Health Care, relevant management decisions will be made in the near future, in particular, the possible prosecution of people involved in the provision of food, as well as consideration of the issue of renegotiating contracts with another supplier.
The Ombudsman assured that he is keeping the situation under personal control.
We will remind, on August 22, the combat medic of the 35th marine brigade, Petro Konoplia, announced a hunger strike due to the poor conditions of his stay in Odesa Regional Psychiatric Hospital №2. The management of the hospital and the regional military administration say that the institution has no funds.
