According to her, for the harvest of 2024, farmers planted melon crops on an area of 2,241 hectares, of which: watermelons — 1,550 hectares, which is 20% more than in 2023, melons — 691 hectares, which is 8% more than last year's figure.

Most of the melon crops are concentrated in households — about 80%, the rest — in agricultural enterprises.

«In recent years, the share of melon crops in agricultural enterprises has increased. Melons grown on the territory of the Mykolayiv region are sold on the domestic market,» said Olena Piskun.
