Education in the conditions of war: 22,000 students from Kherson study remotely

Pupils of the Kherson community have been studying remotely for the third year, 131 educational institutions were damaged, two schools were completely destroyed.

According to the head of the city department of education, Nataliia Zhurzhenko, 22,000 students study remotely in the Kherson community.

«This is not the first year we have been online, unfortunately, so these mechanisms have already been worked out, each institution has a platform on which the educational process is conducted. Each teacher formed remote classes for his subject. In principle, this year we put little effort into solving organizational issues. This year, I turned to my fellow managers and asked them to record video lessons and classes for children, because this year we are planning to turn off the lights, especially in the winter,» said Zhurzhenko.

According to her information, as a result of shelling by the Russian military, 131 educational institutions in the community were damaged, two schools were completely destroyed.

Teacher Liudmyla Dudnyk, who teaches grades 5-9, talked about the peculiarities of online education in the front-line zone.

«Our school is equipped with a large generator. In the event that the light goes out, very quickly our boy volunteers turn on the generator, Starlink and the learning process continues again. That's why I conduct lessons from school,» says Dudnyk.
