Specialists from Mykolaiv City Hospital №4 have started training at the International School of O&P, Aufder Klapp, in Duderstadt, Germany. The doctors are learning the latest techniques for manufacturing individual prostheses.
According to the press service of the mayor's office, this training is one of the stages of preparation for the opening of a prosthetic and orthotic workshop at the hospital.
The mayor's office reminded that in 2024, the hospital began cooperation with the German company Horus Prosthetics GmbH. As part of this cooperation, the hospital received equipment for the manufacture of lower limb prostheses. Specialists have already been trained to work with this equipment and have received the appropriate certificates, and have already made the first prostheses on their own.
It is noted that the prosthetic and orthotic workshop is currently being equipped.
«It will become an integral part of the hospital's Rehabilitation Centre, which provides assistance to patients and victims, including those injured in the hostilities. This will allow patients to receive a full cycle of necessary care at one hospital with the involvement of a multidisciplinary team of doctors, rehabilitation specialists, and prosthetists,», the statement said.
Earlier it was reported that in Mykolaiv, at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of City Hospital №4, specialists perform complex reconstructive surgeries, including for patients with mine-blast injuries.
