Weapons handed over by Germany can be used by Ukraine as it deems necessary.

This was stated by the spokesman of the German Ministry of Defense Arno Kollats, Ukrinform cites.

According to him, the German Ministry of Defense does not have a question about the legality of actions on the territory of the Kursk region: international law provides for the possibility of conducting military operations on the territory of the aggressor country for the sake of defending one's own state.

Therefore, it does not provide for any special conditions for the use of weapons provided by the Bundeswehr, the spokesman added.

«After the weapons from Germany were handed over to Ukraine, they already belong to Ukraine, they are Ukrainian weapons. There are no obstacles, so Ukraine is free to choose opportunities,» said Arno Kollats.

He also added that Ukraine is obliged to comply with international law, clarifying that the use of long-range weapons is another, political issue, but this is not the case in this case.

At the same time, the deputy spokesman of the Federal Government, Wolfgang Buchner, said that Berlin is intensively consulting with its closest allies and with the government in Kyiv regarding the «specific weapon systems» used by Ukraine.

Buchner did not give an assessment of the operation in the Kursk region, noting that the military situation is constantly changing, «contradictory and sometimes intentionally falsified news» is coming from the scene of events.

It's a top secret operation, «prepared without feedback,» he added, noting that all indications are that it's a limited operation, so it's too early to judge.

It will be recalled that the head of the committee on foreign affairs of the French parliament, Jean-Louis Bourlanger, called for the lifting of the ban on Ukraine striking Russian territory with French weapons.

The Government of Sweden also supports the idea of allowing Ukraine to strike military targets located on the territory of Russia.

British Foreign Minister David Cameron said that London does not object to the use of weapons against targets inside the Russian Federation. The Czech Republic and the Baltic States also granted the relevant permission.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, said that a country waging a defensive war can strike military facilities on the aggressor's territory if it is necessary for self-defense.

Denmark also supports Ukraine's right to strike its weapons against military targets in Russia, this is part of Kyiv's self-defense.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz does not believe that giving Ukraine the opportunity to strike military targets on Russian territory with weapons supplied by his country will lead to escalation.

US President Joe Biden said that US weapons should not be used by Ukraine to strike more than 320 kilometers deep into Russia. Kyiv cannot beat Moscow and the Kremlin with it.
