Later it became known that another tanker, Volgoneft-239, began to sink after it. Its hull broke into two parts after being hit by a wave. There were 14 people on board and a cargo of petroleum products, also over 4 thousand tons of fuel oil. The ship drifted. The tugboat Mercury came to the aid of the crew from Kerch, and a Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Emergencies Ministry was sent by the Crimean Spas rescue team.
