The counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained an agent who tried to fatally poison the commanders of a combat unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region.
This was reported by the SSU press service.
The attacker turned out to be an active serviceman of the Ukrainian army. The man planned to add a poisonous substance to the water in the bath, which was used by the command staff of the Armed Forces. Employees of the special service exposed the connection of the traitor with the Russian special service and prevented the implementation of the plan.
It also turned out that the attacker was performing another task — scouted for the Russian FSB the places of deployment and movement of units of the Ukrainian military.
According to the investigation, the suspect was recruited through his parents, who live in the temporarily occupied part of the Luhansk region.
«The invaders kidnapped the man's relatives right from their home, and then imprisoned them in a local Russian torture chamber. There, the victims were subjected to brutal torture, demanding that they persuade their son to work for the aggressor country,» — added in the message.
Communication between the traitor and his Russian «curator» took place through an anonymous chat in the messenger. The phone, through which the man communicated with the FSB, was seized during the search.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators notified him of suspicion under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). The perpetrator is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment.
The special operation was carried out by SSU employees in the Zaporizhzhia region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office.
We will remind that the adjuster of the Russian missile strikes in the Mykolaiv region was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment.
Previously, a Russian agent in the Mykolaiv region was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He worked as a tactical training instructor, where, under the guise of training, he scouted locations of bases of personnel, military equipment and warehouses of the Defense Forces.
At the beginning of March, the special services detained a man who was mobilizing for the Armed Forces and «leaking» position data to the enemy.
