On Sunday, 5 January, a peaceful rally was held in Mykolaiv to commemorate Ukrainian prisoners of war and missing persons.
Relatives of prisoners of war, friends and concerned residents of the city stood with posters, flags of different brigades and photos of captured or missing Ukrainian soldiers.

As a reminder, on 30 December, Ukraine returned 189 citizens home after being held in Russian captivity. Also, during this exchange, 9 marines of the Mykolaiv 36th Brigade, who were captured while defending Mariupol, were returned.
It should be noted that in 2024, 1358 Ukrainians were returned from Russian captivity. A total of 11 exchanges took place.
