The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for the former Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Serhiy Shoigu and the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov.

This is stated in the message of the International Space Station.

The warrants relate to international crimes committed between October 10, 2022 and March 9, 2023. We are talking about launching strikes on civilian objects and causing excessive accidental damage to the civilian population or damage to civilian objects, as well as a crime against humanity.

«The Second Pre-Trial Chamber found that there are reasonable grounds to believe that the two suspects are responsible for the missile strikes carried out by the Russian armed forces against the Ukrainian electricity infrastructure between at least October 10, 2022 and at least March 9, 2023,» the statement said.

It was also established that the strikes were directed against civilian objects, and for those objects that could be qualified as military at the relevant time, the expected collateral damage to the civilian population would be excessive compared to the expected military advantage.

We will remind you that on March 17, 2023, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the Commissioner for Children's Rights, Mariia Lvova-Belova.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine stated that Putin should now be arrested and brought to trial outside of Russia — this applies to countries that have ratified the Rome Statute (this is an international treaty on the basis of which the International Criminal Court was founded. The USA, Russia, Israel and North Sudan initially put their signatures, but later changed their mind and withdrew them, — note).
