A modern educational space is being created at the Mykolaiv Regional Centre for Scientific and Technical Creativity of Student Youth, where children will have the opportunity to develop their skills in the field of ecology.
According to Ecosystem Ukraine, the international EcosySTEM project is being implemented as part of the Black Sea Basin Interreg NEXT cross-border cooperation.
It is noted that with the help of the educational space, Mykolaiv children will be able to participate in international competitions and projects to implement their own innovative ideas and become part of the global process of environmental and scientific education.
«The classrooms are already equipped with modern furniture, climate control equipment, and updated communications. The next stage is to install the necessary equipment to conduct thematic lessons on robotics, aquaponics, waste composting, etc.», the statement said.
According to Artem Vashchylenko, head of the Ukrainian Association of Business Support Centres, the main goal of the project is to build ecosystems, create training centres and conduct training sessions to provide children with knowledge to better understand environmental responsibility.
«The initiative also helps to develop their creativity and even encourages friendly competition through the creation of innovative projects. The goal is to bring these children together at major international events to showcase their work. We hope that Mykolaiv children will also present their bright projects at these events, because Mykolaiv is always a creative city», he added.
The project organisers have also engaged international partners to implement the initiative. In particular, the Environmental Association (IDEA Universal) in Turkey, the Democritus University of the Thrace (DUTH) in Greece, the Ukrainian Association of Business Support Centres (UABSC) in Ukraine, and the Institute of Oceanology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IO-BAS) in Bulgaria.

On 24 January, the space of the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House was opened in Mykolaiv. According to Julie Arnfred Boyesen, director of the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House, the space has been in the works for a year.
