Pyrotechnicians destroyed over 27 thousand ammunition in the Mykolaiv region

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, as of December 16, pyrotechnic units have destroyed 27,237 munitions in the Mykolaiv region.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv region.

In total, 11,039 hectares have already been cleared of explosives using manual, mechanized, and canine demining.

It is also noted that 12,382 pyrotechnicians were involved in demining the Mykolaiv region.

How is the demining of the Mykolaiv region progressing?

Ukraine recently updated its priority demining plan. According to it, over 512,000 hectares of agricultural land are subject to priority demining, including 44,000 hectares in the Mykolaiv region, the Ministry of Economy reported. It also noted that the region is a priority for demining because of its fertile lands.

Since the beginning of the Great War, 754 thousand hectares have been potentially mined in the Mykolaiv region, which is 30% of the entire region, the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported.

As of April 2024, sappers have surveyed and demined almost a third of this territory — 211 thousand hectares of the region's territory, said the first deputy head of the Mykolaiv RMA, Heorhii Reshetilov.

The author of the project «The World Inside Out. Ukraine» Dmytro Komarov visited the mined territories of the Mykolaiv region and showed the work of local sappers. NikVesti also told about a farmer from Kyselivka who is trying to demine his fields on his own.

In the Bashtanka district of the Mykolaiv region, part of which was under occupation, about 30-35 thousand hectares of land remain mined. And in the village of Maksymivka, Pervomaisk community, Mykolaiv region, locals live with an unexploded shell under the foundation of a house.

In general, the situation with demining in Maksymivka is currently critical. A year after the liberation from the Russian occupiers, the village has only been demined by 40%.

It is known that the company «Demining of Ukraine» has developed a plant capable of demining the Mykolaiv region within three months.
