Vitalii Kim, the head of the Mykolaiv regional police department, commented on today's detention of a 19-year-old girl suspected of preparing a terrorist attack ordered by Russian special services.
In a video message to teenagers and young people, he asked them not to be fooled by the «easy money» of Russian special services.
According to him, the Russians used the girl, offering her easy money for the task of carrying a package of explosives. In fact, they were not going to pay her, but planned to blow her up along with the explosives.
«They promised good easy money. As a result, there was no money and no plan to pay her, they wanted to blow her up together with the package. She is alive, but her life is ruined,» Vitalii Kim said.
He reiterated that there is no such thing as «easy money» and urged young people not to fall for such offers.
«Let's do this: take the money upfront, then tell our special services and just do nothing. That way, you will have the money, you will be beautiful, alive and free,» he said.
Earlier, Vitalii Kim urged parents to be vigilant and monitor their children's online communication. According to him, recruiters contact children via the Internet, giving them tasks for which they receive money.
As a reminder, law enforcement officers detained four suspects in the preparation of a terrorist attack in Mykolaiv on 14 February. They were four teenagers from Poltava region aged 14 to 17. According to law enforcement, they were recruited by Russian special services and promised quick money.
On 14 February, an explosion occurred near a cafe in Mykolaiv. A woman and three soldiers were killed on the spot, and seven other people were injured with varying degrees of severity. Law enforcement officials report that the woman brought the explosives herself.
On 19 February, the Central District Court of Mykolaiv took the suspects into custody without the right to bail.
