This was announced by Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych on 13 January during his report on his activities for 2025, according to NikVesti.
«Despite the war, the company kept the system in working order on a daily basis. In the first 11 months of 2025, more than 2,600 accidents were repaired, 9,000 blockages were removed, more than 6 kilometres of networks were replaced, and almost 11,000 square metres of road surface were restored,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.
According to him, one of the city's key achievements over the past year was the launch of a water pipeline. At the same time, there is still a lot of unfinished work in the city, for which funds have been allocated in this year's budget.
«The key result of the year for the city was the launch of the water pipeline, which was built by the State Agency for Reconstruction. At the same time, the city began a systematic modernisation of its entire water infrastructure. The reconstruction of sewage treatment facilities has begun, and the design of large-scale works and the renovation of pumping stations is ongoing. At our water treatment plant, filters and quartz sand were completely replaced thanks to cooperation with partners. Of course, there is still a lot of work to be done — in particular, there are still many excavations in the city that need to be closed this year. We have allocated funds in the budget to transfer them to Mykolaivvodokanal so that when the warm weather arrives, the company can begin work on eliminating its excavations,» said the mayor.
He also recalled that in 2025, a supervisory board for Mykolaivvodokanal was created and the selection of a new CEO began. The city is preparing projects to increase the company's energy independence, including the installation of solar panels and the modernisation of pumping stations to reduce electricity consumption. Some of these decisions are planned to be implemented as early as 2026.
As a reminder, on 11 January, water supply was cut off in the Soliany, Pivnichnyi and Ternivka neighbourhoods of Mykolaiv due to an accident on the water pipeline. The city used special trolleybuses to provide people with water.
Mykolaivvodokanal clarified that the culvert's service life had already expired, so this was not a simple repair job. According to preliminary estimates, approximately 190 metres of 350-millimetre-diameter pipe at the bottom of the river needed to be replaced.
Later, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych announced that they plan to «patch up» the culvert for 4 million hryvnias. However, this will only be a temporary solution to the problem.
According to the mayor, the construction of the culvert in the Varvarivka neighbourhood was not a waste of budget funds. At the same time, he explains the unpopularity of the water supply system among the residents of the Varvarivka neighbourhood by the quality of the water, which is currently supplied to the network due to problems with the water supply in the city.
