1,700 civilians are detained in Russia, of which almost 900 have been confirmed by the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets told about it.

A meeting of the working group on the protection of the rights and freedoms of civilians took place within the walls of the Ombudsman's Office. The meeting discussed the fact that, according to official data, there are almost 1,700 civilians in places of detention in the Russian Federation, of which almost 900 have been confirmed by the International Committee of the Red Cross. However, about 14,000 civilians are officially registered as missing persons.

At the meeting, the Office of the Ombudsman presented the Strategic Plan of the Prosecutor General's Office for combating violations of international humanitarian law. Its main purpose is to ensure the investigation of the illegal deprivation of liberty of civilians and to ensure the access of victims of such crimes to effective legal remedies.

We will remind that on May 12, a rally of relatives and relatives of military prisoners took place in Mykolaiv. Among the protesters are the relatives of captured Mykolaiv soldiers.
