On Wednesday, April 10, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft law on the mobilization of convicts in the first reading.
People's deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak reported this in Telegram.
Draft law No. 11079-1 was supported by 281 votes of people's deputies.
The document proposes to provide an opportunity to serve those who are imprisoned on light charges.
Persons in prison, with the exception of persons convicted of crimes against the foundations of national security, against human sexual freedom and some other most sensitive crimes. These categories, taking into account the specified exceptions, will be able to enter military service during mobilization in wartime at will.
What about the mobilization in Mykolaiv Oblast?
As you know, during the full-scale war, 33,000 residents of the Mykolaiv Oblast were mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces.
The head of the Mykolaiv regional military administration, Vitalii Kim, expressed his belief in the need for mobilization after personal communication with the military, who are currently defending the state.
The head of the RMA added that money should not be the main motivation for protecting the state.
In response to this, Oksana Kaliuzhna, a member of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, reacted negatively to the regional leadership's statement regarding mobilization, comparing the issuing of summonses to evasioners to catching dogs.
