Mykolaiv received ₴3.6 billion in aid from international partners this year

In 2024, Mykolaiv received ₴3.6 billion in humanitarian and technical assistance from international partners.
The relevant information is contained in the report of the mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych for 2024, according to NikVesti.
Of this amount , the city received ₴2.3 billion in international technical assistance and ₴475.7 million in humanitarian aid. This includes 6296 units of equipment, 12 units of public transport, 306 units of furniture, 2234 units of office equipment, 169.9 thousand units of food, 4.4 million of medicines, 80 generators, and 36 vehicles.
Mykolaiv has also received ₴771.2 million in loans for two projects:
- «Development of the water supply and sewerage system in the city of Mykolaiv» for ₴356.7 million;
- «Modernisation of the trolleybus fleet in Mykolaiv» for ₴414.4 million.

Cooperation between Denmark and Mykolaiv
Back in March 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking to the Danish Parliament, called on the country to take «patronage» over Mykolaiv after the end of the full-scale war.
At the end of August 2022, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, and the Danish Minister for International Development, Flemming Møller Mortensen, signed a memorandum of cooperation. The memorandum envisages joint work on developing reconstruction projects and attracting investors from different countries to rebuild Mykolaiv.
Denmark has promised to do everything possible to rebuild Mykolaiv. It also announced an aid package for the Mykolaiv region for special vehicles, medical equipment, and shelter repairs.
Subsequently, an office of the Danish Embassy in Ukraine was opened in Mykolaiv.
In early November, Denmark announced a new large-scale aid package for Ukraine worth €40.2 million. At the time, it was reported that the main focus of the aid package was on Mykolaiv and the region.
In January 2024, Denmark allocated another $21 million to rebuild the Mykolaiv region. In May, $17.2 million was allocated to rebuild destroyed educational institutions in the region, and in June, €33.5 million was allocated to restore infrastructure and improve access to water and electricity.
Overall, about 60% of the aid that Denmark provides to Ukraine goes to Mykolaiv and the Mykolaiv region. Since the start of the full-scale war, the country has provided $118 million in aid to the region.
Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, Ambassador of Denmark to Ukraine, spoke about his vision of post-war reconstruction of Mykolaiv with pedestrian-friendly conditions and bicycle infrastructure.
While in Mykolaiv, the Ambassador explained that Denmark would help Mykolaiv restore and modernise its shipbuilding facilities after the end of the full-scale war.
In particular, the country will rebuild the Mykola Arkas Lyceum while preserving its authentic appearance.
The ambassador also supported the idea of creating a Danish quarter or park in Mykolaiv, but this issue is still at the stage of an idea.
Denmark has also expressed interest in privatising the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant.
Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv Serhii Korenev said that Denmark plans to help the city for the next 10 years.
The Danish representatives are satisfied «with the positive developments» in the city and announced a new phase of partnership, which involves the economic and social recovery of the city.
In September 2024, it became known that Mykolaiv region would receive €44 million in financial assistance from Denmark.
Denmark will also provide more than ₴150 million to restore houses in Mykolaiv's Korabelnyi district.
