Oil that got into the river due to Russian shelling continues to be pumped out of the Southern Bug

In Mykolaiv, the relevant services continue to eliminate the consequences of the shelling on 28 December 2024, which led to an oil leak into the Southern Bug River. As of today, 217 tonnes of oil-water emulsion have been pumped out.
This was reported by the Department of Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of the Mykolaiv City Council.
They noted that experts continue to work to fully eliminate the consequences of the shelling.

As a reminder, on the night of 28 December in Mykolaiv, UAV debris damaged a vegetable oil tank of the agricultural enterprise «Ecotrans».
According to the Ministry of Environment, the spill of vegetable oil into the soil and water area of the Bug Estuary caused environmental damage worth 5 million hryvnias.
