As of the morning of 21 January, approximately 4,000 buildings in Kyiv remain without heat, and nearly 60% of the capital is without electricity.

This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following a special energy conference call.

According to him, the city authorities report that sufficient forces have been mobilised, but the president disagreed with this assessment.

«According to reports from city authorities, sufficient forces have been mobilised, but it will take time. I disagree with this assessment — additional measures and resources are needed,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on the deployment and use of support and heating points, as well as the preparation of hot meals for people. According to the president, the operation of base stations and mobile communications is being ensured.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he is awaiting a separate report from government officials on programmes to support Ukrainians and businesses in the emergency situation.

«We need steps that will really help people and stabilise the situation,» he stressed.

The president also noted that meetings and negotiations with partners regarding additional support are planned. Among the priorities, he mentioned missiles for air defence, equipment for the energy sector, and the fastest possible completion of restoration work.
